IB Learner Profile

Learner Profile

The IB Learner Profile attempts to represent a well-rounded, internationally-minded person who has respect for others and themselves. In the Primary Years Programme (elementary age), students learn that there are people from nations and cultures outside of where they live. They gain an understanding of and respect for diversity. At VWCS, we encourage this way of thinking because it enables them to see that each person on earth was created by God for a purpose, and is loved and valued. As students develop this mindset toward their fellow human beings, they are instilled with a sense of community that stretches across the globe.

The Primary Years Program attempts to do this through an emphasis on the spectrum of attributes of the IB Learner Profile.

The IB Learner Profile describes students who are:

Students exercise initiative when thinking through complex problems, making reasoned decisions, finding answers, and then following up with “why.”
