<p>We are very excited and looking forward to our Honor’s night program. Every year we dedicate this time to bless and honor VWCS students for their efforts and accomplishments.</p>
<p>This is one of the most anticipated events of the year at  VWCS. However, when we think in the word “Honor,” it has so much meaning and power that we couldn’t avoid giving it some thought. How do we exercise honor in our everyday life? Not as a yearly, occasional, or sporadic response but as a lifestyle?</p>
<p>As parents one of our main goals is to teach and model our kids how to respect and honor one another. Many of us might use this popular Bible Scripture in <span style="color: #888888;"><em>Ephesian 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”</em></span>This verse is surely popular among parents but also powerful, it’s the first commandment with promise.</p>
<p><strong>Honor</strong> is almost an extinct virtue in the twenty-first century, but the concept still holds the power to move us. In movies a display of honor can inspire tears as courage and sacrifice are witnessed. We applaud it romantically, but where has it gone in everyday life? It is foreign to our generation, yet it is the key essential to receiving from God. For this reason, the enemy of our souls has sought to eliminate it from our way of life. It carries great rewards, rewards that God desires all of us to have.</p>
<p>A few years ago <a href="http://victoryatl.com">Victory World Church</a> brought a special guest, Mr. John Bevere. In his amazing teaching “Honor’s Reward&#8221;  he unveiled the powerful truth of an often-overlooked principle: The spiritual law of honor. Here&#8217;s some of the highlights:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;" align="center"><strong><em>“Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.” —2 John 8</em></strong></p>
<p> We grow in the spirit when we obey God in tough times, not when the sun is shining. It’s in the storms of life, when we refuse to disobey or compromise what the Word of God says and we say, “All right, I’m going to obey no matter what it looks like.” When we do this, we develop Godly character and receive God&#8217;s reward. We never know when these test will come, but when we pass them they are life defining moments.</p>
<p>Did you know that God the Father, our Father, wants to reward us in this life? How do I know that? Because Proverbs 11:31 says, “The righteous will be rewarded in the earth.”</p>

<p>In Mark 6 we’re going to take a look at people who received full rewards, partial rewards, and no rewards. In Mark 6:5. “Now He,”— he being Jesus—“could do no mighty work there except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.”</p>
<p>Does it say, “He wouldn’t do any mighty work”? Because if it said, “He wouldn’t,” that would deal with His will. The very fact that it said, <strong>“He couldn’t,” means what? It means He’s being restrained.</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The key to why these people didn’t see any mighty works done in their midst by Jesus was because they didn’t give Him the honor He deserved. </span>They withheld honor from Him and that’s why Jesus said, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, his own town, and his own house.” The key is honor.</p>
<p>Honor can be displayed in deed, in word and in thought, <strong>but all true honor originates from the heart.</strong> This is why God says in Isaiah 29:13, “This people draws near to me with their mouths and they honor me with their lips, but their hearts they have removed far from me and their fear toward me is taught by the precepts of men.” God is saying, “They honor me with their lips but their hearts are not with me.” So true honor originates from the heart.</p>
<p>As you scan the Gospels, you find others who received partial, full or no rewards. Each incident uniquely reflects their stewardship of honor. For some, there is a lack of due honor. For others, there is abundant honor and still for others there is a blatant dishonor. Like the Pharisees and teachers of the law as they approached Jesus. If honor isn’t immediately apparent in the passage, the pattern or principle yet remains. It is a spiritual law. Look at I Samuel 2:30. God declares “Those who honor me, I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”</p>
<p>How do we lead a lifestyle of honor? We stay humble in spirit, completely dependent on God, which is true humility. Proverbs 22:4 says this, “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life.” Do we want a full reward? Then, let’s walk in the fear of God and walk in humility all the days of our lives.</p>

<p>Let’s teach our children the value of the principle of honor. Once this truth is established in their heart, they can sincerely and more effectively honor their parents, classmates and teachers.  Honor means to value. It means to see as weighty and precious. If the object of our honor is a person in authority, it also carries the meaning of respect and even reverence and honor will be attracted to you.<br />

Let us be a generation that honors well!</strong><br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This past weekend I was doing some research about parenting and education when an interesting article about the “Alpha Generation” got my attention. Then I thought, another label for our youth culture!</p>
<p>We have all heard of Gen X, Gen Y, even Gen Z &#8211; but in January 2012 we stared at the beginning of the alphabet and welcomed to the world the next title: Generation Alpha.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.news.com.au/features/babies-born-from-2010-to-form-generation-alpha/story-e6frfl49-1225797766713" target="_blank">News.com.au</a> the main highlights of this “Generation A” are:</p>

<li>Born in 2010</li>
<li>New generation will be called Alpha</li>
<li>Will be most formally educated ever</li>
<li>Will begin school earlier and study longer</li>
<li>It’s likely they&#8217;ll be the most materially supplied generation ever</li>
<li>&#8220;These &#8216;Google&#8217; kids are really being shaped in a world of technology and consumerism.&#8221;</li>
</ul>

It’s not my desire to create a debate against technology but to raise a flag among our families and friends to slow down and observe our current generation and then honestly ask ourselves; Are we ready to raise Generation Alpha?</p>
<p>I feel that I owe them something! There are plenty of reasons for this generation to feel a little bit anxious. This generation has been exposed to so many failures including divorce, abuse, poor schools, recession, youth poverty, teen suicide, outrageous education and living expenses, failure of religious institutions, national debt, high taxes, environmental devastation, drugs, parents that need to be parented, violence, unstable economic security and a premature lost of their childhood.</p>
<p>We have some issues to contend with. As a church, Christians, parents and educators we still have a huge responsibility with this generation. Think about this, our kids sitting at their desks; are learning and receiving the spiritual truth which will affect the already labeled Generation Alpha.</p>
<p>Pop culture usually defines and frames a generation based on their sociological patterns of behaviors and technological advancements. But I believe it’s really the Gospel that is key for our society’s transformation. The Apostle Paul lived in one of the most immoral and politically corrupt societies that the world has ever known. But here is the key: He effected change in society one heart at a time. In a short period of time, Christianity became the official religion of the empire that once threw its followers to the lions.<br />
Additionally, if technology has the power to shape and affect the cultural behavior of an entire generation; then raising kids with a “worshiping heart and attitude” is way more powerful.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I am not talking about signing Hymns and songs. I’m talking about a life attitude of humility and surrender…A lifestyle! This attitude is well described in Romans 12:1-3</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #888888;">“So here&#8217;s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don&#8217;t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You&#8217;ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” MSG</span></em></p>
<p>At VWCS we believe in the generation of impact and transformation. The main characteristic of this generation is that they are “True Worshipers,” they worship in spirit and truth. If you have an opportunity, listen to Pastor Dennis Rouse’s recent sermon “<a href="http://victoryatl.com/p/12162/MediaID/433/MediaType/video/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Worship Warfare</a>&#8221;</p>
<p>At VWCS, we have the opportunity to give meaning and significance to a student’s life. But we can’t do it by ourselves! Teamwork and partnerships are critical!<br />
More than ever, parents and educators must work together to provide a “safe environment.” I’m talking about a space where life’s transformation and mind renovation occur as the result of our lifestyle of worship!</p>
<p>We are on a mission! We are living in the most resourceful, intellectual and creative time that we have seen in the past 50 years. Generation Y, Z and Alpha could be remembered as:</p>
<p><span style="color: #000080;"><em>• Born in Christ</em></span><br />
<span style="color: #000080;"><em> • A new generation that will be called “True Worshipers”</em></span><br />
<span style="color: #000080;"><em> • Will be true disciples of Christ (not just followers)</em></span><br />
<span style="color: #000080;"><em> • Will begin a relationship with God earlier and stay in their faith longer</em></span><br />
<span style="color: #000080;"><em> • It’s likely they&#8217;ll be the most innovative and most mature generation ever</em></span><br />
<span style="color: #000080;"><em> • These &#8216;Worshiper&#8217; kids will be shaped in the Word of God and they are generous or extravagant givers.</em></span></p>

<p>Last Friday, students from VWCS school participated in a colorful and educational activity “<strong>Parade of Nations</strong>.” Our mission is to create a <a class="zem_slink" title="Multiculturalism" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiculturalism" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank">multi-cultural</a> community of learners committed to Christian discipleship, academic excellence, and world transformation.</p>
<p>The Parade of Nations taught us an unforgettable message of unity “One God for all Nations.” Instilling in each student a Biblical world-view in an environment of fun, laughter, academic excellence and respect for people of all <a class="zem_slink" title="Culture" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank">cultures</a>.</p>
<p>Over the last few years, VWCS students have been provided with various opportunities to serve others all over the world; some of our kids have already gone on mission trips! Our kids have supported missions and they have served as advocacies for causes such as: education, homelessness, hunger prevention in Mexico, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="color: #888888;">Our goal for our students is two-fold: to minister to those in need and to help the students grow as loving individuals who care for their neighbors.</span></p></blockquote>
<p>Because our school is so diverse, every student is exposed to cultures which are different from their own. This diversity often creates a wonderful learning opportunity for both resilience and an incredible global perspective. Many studies indicate that students exposed to multiculturalism, early in education, can relate to anyone, regardless of differences in race, ethnicity, religion, or nationality. They generally credit their cross culture educational background with positively influencing their adult lives.</p>
<p>This positive influence will change the way our students view other places and cultures. When different aspects of  cultures appear in front of them, they might tend to have a more open mind and could easily situate themself in that culture if needed. When looking at cultures, our students tend to look at them with a wider perspective because they base what they see on the many different cultures they have already experienced by having friends in their classroom from a variety of cultures.</p>
<p>Due our <a class="zem_slink" title="Cultural mosaic" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_mosaic" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank">cultural mosaic</a>, America has been considered a “melting pot” or a  “<a class="zem_slink" title="Salad bowl (cultural idea)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salad_bowl_%28cultural_idea%29" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank">Salad Bowl</a>.” But for us it’s a Missionary Field, therefore we aim to equip our children to make their neighborhood their <a class="zem_slink" title="Mission (Christianity)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission_%28Christianity%29" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank">Mission Field</a> and our classroom’s diversity  makes this goal experiential and real!</p>

<p>Dear Victory families,</p>

<p> We practiced listening and hearing the voice of God this morning in our chapel service.  Children moved through 5 stations as classes to help them learn &amp; practice hearing from God.   The five stations were:</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>1.  <strong>The forgiveness station.</strong>..a place where kids could write down their sin, ask god to forgive them and when they received His forgiveness they threw the piece of paper in a trash can.</p>
</div>
<div><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-841" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 10px;" title="VWCS Kid's prayer requests" src="http://vwcs.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/mapa-300x260.jpg" alt="Victory World Christian School - Spiritual Formation - Chapel Time - Norcross GA" width="300" height="260" /><strong>2.  Praying for the nations</strong>.  Children were asked to look at a map of the world and let the holy spirit direct them about which nation they were supposed to pray for.  Then they put their name on a post-it note and place their post it note on the country/map.</div>

<p><strong>3.  Prayer request station.</strong>  A place where they could pray the things that were on their hearts.  They could write them down and place them on our own prayer wall&#8230;knowing that all of us would be praying for these requests.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p><strong>4.  Bible station.</strong>  A place where children sat on the floor with pillows and their bible with instruction to read &amp; listen.  God speaks to us through His word.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p><strong>5.  Drawing station</strong>.  A place where children could draw what God was showing them in dreams &amp; visions.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>I hope your child will share with you what they heard God speaking to them this morning.  I&#8217;m attaching a compilation of our prayer requests for you to take before the Lord in your prayer time.  If you&#8217;d like a copy of the powerpoint of our lesson to replicate at home with your family, I&#8217;d be glad to send it to you.  This is a great family activity to share together and model how to slow down and discipline ourselves to be still and be silent to hear from our amazing Father.</p>

<p>Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Today we are officially publishing our first post. We are very excited with our new website! Don’t you just love it? It’s an amazing tool to connect, celebrate and be witnesses of the fulfilling of our mission!</p>
<p>What a perfect occasion to start a brand new blog than talking about love. Yesterday I went out for a walk and I started looking at the store’s decorations. I felt a little bit overwhelmed; we haven’t finished celebrating one holiday when the next one is already on the shelves too. So today, let’s slowdown and celebrate Love…God’s kind of love!</p>
<p>Teaching our children about this amazing reality is part of the VWCS circle of blessing. We believe we can change the way our students relate with God and others. Society and TV programming expose our children to a fake reality of Love; a carnal love characterized by a naked, little, fat boy who goes around shooting people with arrows to cause them to &#8220;fall&#8221; in love or to &#8220;fall&#8221; out of love. At VWCS, we persevere in the knowledge of God&#8217;s love that is the same yesterday, today, and forever.</p>
<p>Our teachers strive daily to nurture the children in the classrooms.  If a kid feels lonely, sad, discouraged, or unhappy, we try to replace every one of these negative emotions with the positive impartation of God&#8217;s love for them.</p>
<p>One of the most beautiful realities about “True Perfect Love” is it “casts out fear.” When we struggle to believe that God&#8217;s promises to us will come to pass, that&#8217;s unbelief. The root of that unbelief is a lack of love. Galatians 5:6 says “faith works by love.” That means <strong>love is the driving force behind our faith</strong>. God&#8217;s love for us is unconditional! God doesn&#8217;t love us because of some virtue we possess. God loves us because &#8220;God is love&#8221; (1 John 4:8), not because we are lovely. WOW!</p>
<p>We pray that we can grow in the revelation of “True Love”. In Ephesians, chapter 3, Paul prayed that the Ephesians would get a greater revelation of God&#8217;s love for them.</p>
<div class="cosmo-box info medium "><span class="cosmo-ico"></span> He said, &#8220;For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. &#8221; (Eph. 3:14-19). </div>
<p>God&#8217;s love isn&#8217;t just one-dimensional. There is height, depth, length, width and breadth to it. As we experience God&#8217;s love, which is superior to mere knowledge of God&#8217;s love, then we will be filled with all the fullness of God. What a statement!</p>
<p>A deep revelation of God&#8217;s love for us is the most important identity message we can receive and teach to our children. First Corinthians 13:13 says, &#8221; And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. &#8221;</p>
<p>Today, take a time to celebrate “True Love” and you will be celebrating God Himself!</p>
